Hi! My name is Julie. I am the mommy to a cutie pie who is about to be five and let me tell you, I have already cried several times about kindergarten. Any other moms out there who felt like this when their baby went to school? I know it isn't the end of the world, but I am just so sad that she's big enough for school in the fall. It seems like I'm entering a new phase of "mommyhood". I don't know what to think about it.

How comforting it is to know I am not the only one who has been sad about this! My little boy just turned 5 and he will be starting kindergarden this fall, also. I told my husband I will be a train wreck for AT LEAST the first week of kindergarden. You are right, it is not the end of the world. But it is going to be a big change!

My oldest is in kindergarten now. After the first day, once you realize how much they are learning and how they are changing, the tears of sadness go away and it just makes you so proud of the little people they become! I was teary the first day or so because he had a new caregiver in his life, but to see him blossom over the past several months has truly been a blessing. My twins will be starting kindergarten in '09, I'm sure I'll be teary-eyed that day as well :)

Oh, I'm thankful that most other moms seem to cry about it too. I enrolled her last week and I bawled all morning before we left. It is so strange to me to be THIS upset about it. I guess I just feel like a new stage of life is coming, for her and for me, and the unknown is a lot to take in. Plus, she's my only baby and that is hard too. That she won't be with me for most of the day like she is now. However, she is SO excited. It makes me excited for her. I hope she can make some good friends and really learn tons and ends up with a great teacher. AHH!! I have to make this summer count!
