Sara, welcome to FortSmithMoms... the story on the home page about the preemie twins is mine, so I truly understand your struggles. I am so glad your little girl is home and doing well! Girls really do better as preemies than boys. Weird, but true.

If you need anything or have any questions I can help you with, please let me know... we went through a lot with our boys and I am always grateful when I can reach out to other preemie mom's.

Take care,
ada

Chicken, thanks so much for your prayers for my daughter. They are so appreciated. :) She is fit as a fiddle once again. (Thank you, God)

Congrats on being 1 year smoke-free! Good for you. I, too, need to lose weight. I gained 50 pounds w/my pregnancy, and I have hung on to that last 20 pounds for 2 years now.:O It is so much more difficult to lose weight as you get older...

I hope you guys are all doing well. I've got myself and Makenna on Zyrtec for allergies, and the doc said to find 2 or 3 allergy meds and switch them out every 3 or 4 weeks because your body starts developing a tolerance if you take one med too long at a time. So we are going to do Zyrtec and Claritin for now.

God bless you. :)

:) Cheree hello again, Thanks for your kind words yes Jacob too is on Zyrtec, and singulair, I sometimes have to also use benadryl just to give him relief from the eczema.
Jacob is having a bad spell right now but it is the time of year that is bad, however we will get through... Take care Cheree and keep the baby safe...

Chicken, I'm sorry to hear Jacob is suffering from allergies. I will say a prayer for him. You're right, it is THAT time of year. All the pollens are so high. And since I'm most allergic to molds, my allergies are bad when it rains.

Thankfully, my daughter doesn't have eczema, but I have had it my whole life. It is very mild, and I just get patches here and there sometimes. I know it can be a horribly itchy, ugly rash.

Have you thought about putting Jacob on allergy shots? I have been on them several years and they have helped a lot.

Prayers to Jacob. :)

Good Morning Cheree, I am real thankful to god that your little girl doesn't have eczema as I am sure you are too with having it yourself I will pray for you as well. Jacob has a high level of eczema and it seems his allergies doesn't help or I am so confused I don't know what is what anymore. His eczema runs head to toe, his poor little hands around his thumb and fingers is so blistery right now I almost don't know what to do it seems sometimes the meds work and other I am not sure anything works. I am so sure of one thing it has to be painfully itchy when that is all he does is scratch. But God will prevail I have high hopes that he will get through this and eczema free at the age of 5 the magic number they say. I want to share something with you since you too have eczema that I heard about that I plan to try on Jacob this just might be the answer for you both??? There is this product you may have heard of DERMA SILK well they now use this to make pajamas there is a motel chain that is going to test market them as a courtesy I can't remember the motel right now however I do know that it is sold in Europe, I am trying to get them so far I have had some trouble getting the money thing and address on the site to go through, It is on Good House Keeping web site. look on the left you will see eczema cotton or dermasilk, let me know what you think.
I am sorry I am cutting short I need to run
Take care cheree

Hi, Chicken! Did you notice our posts have 378 views? Doesn't that make you wonder who all those women are, and why we aren't hearing their input? It makes me a little frustrated, I have to admit, because I feel like the more moms that post, the more other moms could learn and feel like they are being listened to... I have one post where I asked a very important question, and I've only gotten one response. And you have questions about Jacob's eczema.. I KNOW their are women out there that probably have knowledge on the subjects that we do not. I just wish they would share it! Ok, I'm finished venting. lol

I'm so sorry to hear about Jacob's eczema. :( I've been around kiddos that have it badly, and I know how difficult it can be for them, and how difficult it is to treat. I've not heard of Derma Silk, but it certainly sounds like something I would try if I were you! I'm always for things that are natural, rather than drugs. My eczema cream has steroids in it, so I try to use it as sparingly as possible.

I hope that you, too, have a wonderful Mom's Day! God bless you, Chicken. :)

Hey Cheree, Thanks for your support that is all any mom who has a child with eczema needs and when an adult has it they truly understand what it is he is going through for other people that have normal skin have no clue and don't try to understand the grief he must be in. I myself have dermatitis so I have itchy times in life as well but I would never try to compare it to eczema that stuff is extreme.

Jacob too has a steroid cream and sometimes it just don't seem to work fast enough, he has to use it two times a day until he is cleared up well this flare up has lasted over 2 weeks now we have an appointment coming up in June so I try not to over visit the doctor too,I am going to ask him what you suggested though about the shots for his allergies cause that just might help out the eczema flare up. as always it has been great chatting with you and God Bless you and your family.

Hi! Cheree :) Yes and I noticed this morning it had 405 views. I am quite suprised but I did try to use a catchy phrase cause I truly needed help to find a cake for my little Jacob that had no egg in it. I didn't find it here but His Birthday was a hit:whistling: I wanted to try and find a group or find other mothers like me that deals with the eczema and food allergies. I think when you work together you get more information, I think that I got the attention but not much on responses. That is ok though for me I never fail cause I have God I think by talking with you that you have God too so you know what I mean by that. us earthlings need to sometimes help each other though and that is what I want to do now if I can help someone with what little knowledge I know then I am ready and willing to do that, Thanks for noticing and venting I think it was great that you mentioned it.

God Bless :):wow:

Hi, Chicken. I sure hope your doc appt well bring some relief/answers. I will say a prayer about it. My allergy doctor, Dr. Ziegler, said he wouldn't put kids on allergy shots until they were five, so the child would be old enough and verbal enough to let someone know if they may be having a reaction to a shot. I don't know if all allergy doctors do that, or if there may be circumstances where they would go ahead and start them on shots before 5.

Are you going to a regular pediatrician or an allergy doctor? My allergy doctor said that pediatricians have limited knowledge about allergies because it is not something they are required to learn about in med school. That seems to ring true for me, because the pediatriciians that Makenna sees seem pretty clueless about allergies. lol

:)

Whoopsie, that one posted twice. I guess it will have to stay until Catherine gets us a delete option for our posts. :)

Yes, Chicken, I'm a Christian. :) And I'm so joyful that we both can rely on God for our circumstances here on earth. I don't think I've prayed more since having a baby. I just never want her to suffer, but I am coming to accept that babies suffering isn't of God, it is of this world. As long as we are of/in this world there will be suffering...

I appreciate you and look forward to your msgs here. I'm glad to have found you on Fort Smith Moms, Chicken!

:) Hi Cheree well that might answer why Jacob isn't on shots as to your question Jacob too sees Dr. Z he also has a pediatrian that knows very little about the allergies and he sees a Dermatologist that deals with his eczema with Dr. Z. So he may have another 3 years to wait for relief. Jacob is two and will go and get the vaseline to put on his hands or feet when they hurt I would have to say it depends on the child but some have a way of comunicating with you. may take a few times before you realize that is a sign the child is trying to get across to you but it still becomes parent what the child needs. I Love all his Doctors I just don't think they can do that much for the eczema they can only do so much... Eczema is the worst thing for Jacob the allergies you can almost prevent a lot of the food allergies to make it better but some times diffucult to eat.
OOOOOOOOOOOps Thanks so much for your prayers they are deeply apreciated.

Chicken, I think you're right, there is only so much they can do for eczema. When mine used to get really bad I would go to the doctor for a cortizone shot. That really helped, but I believe those have steroids in them, as well as the creams. It is a terrible thing to suffer with.. When I try to explain it to people that don't have it, I tell them it is like having little bugs underneath your skin. Just the constant sensation of being itchy and uncomfortable. Not to mention the pain it can cause from the dry, cracking skin.

Well, I am gearing up for Makenna's 2nd birthday. I can't believe she is almost 2! I hope you're having a great day!

 I can't explain to you how much that last line or two of your first paragraph devastates me to hear. I have always explained to people what I think and have found to be Jacob's problem with his eczema, being, If I control the itch then you can control the breakout (rash). I have somewhat of a vivid mind so you saying that not only verified what I had learned but put it in so much easier understanding for some members of friends and family to understand more clearly... It is so terrible for anyone to go through, I am so sorry you have it, even more though so deeply sorry Jacob has it... I wish they could find some kind of cure for that and soon....

ON a lighter note I am so excited for you I know how excited I was about Jacob's 2 Birthday this past March. I have Kobey's 9 Birthday this month on the 24th. I have so much to do still. It is so exciting when they grow up, and yet you want them to still stay little in your arms to cuddle and love. I am so Lucky Kobey still wants to cuddle and hug and kiss his mommy I think I am fixing to loose that though.

Cheree good luck on Makenna's Birthday
:D HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MAKENNA!!!!:D

God Bless
