Express Yourself: Art Classes for Teens

Our outreach program, Wonderful World of Art, takes place at eight different communities. Choose one near you or come to our studio in Van Buren for Art-A-Rama, Teen Art or Wee Draw.

Summer art camps help your child develop character, learn valuable life skills, make new friends and discover new interests. As kids create art, they will explore ideas, learn arts vocabulary, and experiment with a variety of arts media. At the same time, they will reinforce skills such as problem solving, observation, and cooperation. Most of all, they will have fun!

The Center for Art & Education will offer a limited number of youth scholarships for the 2011 summer camps. For more information, contact them at 479.474.7767. Full payment is required to reserve your space.

The First Tee uses the game of golf to teach young people life skills that allow them to face challenges at home, school and play in a constructive manner.  The skills they learn include problem solving, goal setting, time management, controlling one’s emotions, working well with others and improving relationships with family and community.  The First Tee is more than just a place to learn the game of golf.  The First Tee provides opportunities for young people to experience a positive, safe place, surrounded by caring adults.  They learn the value of giving back to their community and the meaning of responsibility and respect.

Community Family Fun night is Friday, August 12, 6-10 p.m. This will be a fun night for everyone!  We will have area vendors, food, free games for kids, Schwan’s Truckload Sale and of course Golf!

The annual Kid’s Skills Competition (free to all members – includes t-shirt and lunch) and Ultimate Golf Ball Drop is Saturday, August 13.  Call 648-9833 for more information.
