Ride the Rails

This adventure begins at The Old Frisco Station in downtown Van Buren.  The train carries passengers over the Arkansas River, through a quarter mile tunnel and over a series of trestles overlooking the rugged and spectacular forestland.  We hear that the conductor shares tales during the travels.  To view the latest schedules and to purchase tickets visit arkansasmissouri-rr.com.

Spy the Skies

The grounds at Coleman Observatory, northwest of Van Buren, are open for everyone to use at any time.  You do not have to be a member of the Arkansas Oklahoma Astronomical Society to enjoy the dark sides from our observatory.  If you have a telescope and would like a good, dark observing site, you are welcome anytime.  Learn more at aoas.org.

Visit downtown Van Buren

Fall is a wonderful time to discover downtown Van Buren. The historic downtown offers so much to see, and if you want to shop for toys, clothes, antiques, or hand-made goods, downtown VB’s got it! There are also several places to get a good bite to eat. Put on your walking shoes and head to, as my kin call it, “dog town”. (Can you figure out why?) You’re guaranteed a good day.
