No TV Tuesdays

Tuesday nights are No TV nights at my house.  I love it.  We do something special, like play games or go out to eat.  Last Tuesday night we were able to do both at the same time.  We went to Pizza Hut for the buffet (kids eat free) and found games on the table.  Pizza Hut is promoting "Repeat Pete" and "What's Yours Like?" and have displays with instructions and sample cards on the tables.  When we finished our "all you can eat," we played the games.  They were really a lot of fun and both my kids (ages 6 and 3) enjoyed them.  This would be a great activity for families of all ages and stages.  It was good not to rush out of the restaurant (like usual).  We took time to enjoy our meal and then enjoyed the games.  We looked silly and made a lot of noise, but the Pizza Hut crowd didn't seem to mind.  I recommend a Tuesday night at the Hut.

Help us add to our list of places kids can eat free (or reduced) around the RiverValley.  We want to help families have fun without a huge expense.  Go to our dining guide to see what we currently have on the list.

It Was A Spooky Family Night!

Martha and I attended "Spooky Family Night" with our kids last night and had such a great time. The kids were entertained by a "spooky" story read by Ms. Lynn and then headed off to another room for crafts (with a little help from us).

They made a witch's house- that turned out to be a jack-o-lantern and then an awesome owl out of cupcake holders, googley eyes and a paper plate- too cute. When craft time was over, they even got a goody bag!

We stayed and played with puzzles and checked out some movies and books before heading home. Best of all, it was all FREE! Be sure to check out library story times and special library events on our events page.

Trolley Schedule

FYI: The Fort Smith Trolley schedule will be switching to a winter schedule beginning November 1st, so if you want to ride on a weekday, you need to go soon.  The trolley currently runs Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.  The winter hours, which begin November 1st, are Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.  You can board the trolley next to the Fort Smith Museum of History--near the National Historic Site.  This ride would make for a good play-date!

4:45am does not come easily...

It's 5:47am and I am getting ready to leave for our first guest appearance on channel 5 news talking about the site. I would have mentioned it earlier had I not been in denial that I would have to appear on live television- the thought of it makes me want to throw up. And who gets up at 4:45am anyway??

I was on television several years ago and let's just say it was a less than "stellar" moment in my life and I am hoping not to repeat it. If I can make it through the segment without throwing up or falling off the couch, we'll call it a good day. I'll update later. - Catherine
