Mama Memo's

Fetch fido…I mean baby!

“Go get it!  Good job…now give it to me…woo hoo!  Go long….here it comes”   These are the sounds I hear from my husband in the other room as a I step out of the shower.   Of course, he is suppose to be watching our 9 month old baby and it sounds more like a football game is taking place in the nursery.

I throw some clothes on for work and go in the nursery to find out what all the noise is about. My husband is thrilled and can’t wait for me to see what he has taught our son. As Lucas stands in the crib (railing up of course), my husband stands a few feet away and tosses a rolled up pair of socks to the baby. Lucas can’t catch the socks but after they land in the crib, he jumps after them, picks them up, stands up again and holds the socks out for dada to get. The baby is smiling and laughing while playing this game of “catch” as my husband calls it.

My twin sister is a Veterinarian and I was telling her about the new game that we taught Lucas and I thought she would be impressed with her 9 month old nephew. But her response was… “So you taught the baby how to fetch!”

I had not thought about it quite that way but yes our baby has now mastered the skill of playing fetch.
